BROWNSVILLE - One woman is hoping a popular slogan can be turned into a message for others.

Pamela Taylor has adopted the state slogan for fighting litter on highways, "Don't Mess With Texas" to forward her battle.

She's had a big sign built, and staked it outside her home near Monsees and Old Nogales Road.

"These signs are like a silent war for my family and myself, because we know we're going outside of the fence." says Taylor.

The sign says "Please don't mess with Texas, with an unecessary border fence". She hopes it sends a message to the contractors putting up the steel poles.

Taylor says she will keep the sign up, even when her home is on the other side of the 18 foot tall fence.
